Read it yourself - Roxy and the Great Escape is a fiction book and educational tool, written by Ronne Randall. Its plot revolves itself around the Roxy who risks both safety and fun in order to stay sparkling and is shadowed by Dr. Strangeglove who waits for the right moment to strike.

Roxy and the Great Escape came out together with Oddie the Hero, a year after the initial four RIY books. Both these books follow original fiction and are not based on any previous stories, unlike the initial four books.

The Read It Yourself books are tools to teach reading through storytelling. It contains "essential key words" and ends with a quiz to determine if the reader followed and understood the story. These books are aimed at beginners and are thus simpler in writing style than most other Moshi Monsters books.

Description[]

A Moshi Monsters story. Roxy the Moshling needs to sparkle, so she goes to Monstro City to buy vinegar. What happens when she meets Dr Strangeglove? Can she keep her sparkles and escape?

Read it yourself with Ladybird is one of Ladybird's best-selling reading series. For over thirty-five years it has helped young children who are learning to read develop and improve their reading skills.

Each Read it yourself book is very carefully written to include many key, high-frequency words that are vital for learning to read, as well as a limited number of story words that are introduced and practised throughout. Simple sentences and frequently repeated words help to build the confidence of beginner readers and the four different levels of books support children all the way from very first reading practice through to independent, fluent reading.

Summary[]

Roxy loves her sparkle but ran all out of vinegar to maintain it. Heading into town to buy some is dangerous as Dr. Strangeglove is lurking. Anxious for any shadow, she runs into Blingo, a fellow sparkle & gleam loving Moshling like her. He invites her to a party over at Buster Bumblechop's Ranch but she already has plans with her bath. After successfully buying some vinegar and some Starlight Cookies as a bonus, Roxy pays less attention to her surroundings and walks into a mud puddle. Covered in mud and unable to see, a stranger hands her a handkerchief, who turns out to be Strangeglove. He chases the fleeing Roxy into dark mines. Roxy uses the Starlight Cookies together with her own sparkle and Dr. Strangeglove is blinded by the reflection upon aiming his flashlight at Roxy. Dr. Strangeglove tries to feel his way home while Roxy sets off to join Blingo at the party.
